The table, in writing
Every family down here has a story that starts on this water. The Story Wall is where Heron Bay tells its own — the founding days, the boats, the storms, the ones we lost and the ones still standing. These are the first bricks. Yours belongs here too.
"Y'all get out of here, y'all hooligans!" — the line that named a family. Forty-something years ago the mamas of Heron Bay shooed a pack of cousins out of the house, and the Heron Bay Hoodlums were born. Jr Peters was one of those cousins, and the name he helped carry is the name on this wall.
The founding — told in full on The Story
The nautical line was dreamed up at the table — James Bosarge with the idea, and Jr Peters sitting right there with him when the branding was born. Two homeboys, one bay, and a heron over an anchor.
The branding day — The Story
The 4 AM tide doesn't wait on anybody. The kin who work it — out of Heron Bay and Bayou La Batre, bound for Petit Bois Pass in the dark — got themselves a song: Saltwater Kin 4am Tide.

Your brick on the wall
Grew up on this water? Ran these passes? Got a Heron Bay, Bayou La Batre, Grand Bay, or Dauphin Island memory that ought to be kept? Send it in — with your permission, it goes up on the wall.
Every story, word, and voice sent in comes to James first. Nothing goes up on this wall — and nothing already on the wall changes — without his approval.
Let us pray.
